700's to 1100 is named the Viking age. The Vikings were danish invaders who traveled all over the world and invaded many different countries. They killed many diffrent kings. There were many diffrent types of ships that they built, including the Long Ship. The Long Ship was intended for warfare and exploration. It could hold many people, and sail in very shallow water, right up to the beach. Vikings were fearless worriors. The were buried with wepons, tools and sometimes even ships. The most famous Viking was leif Eriksson. Leif landed in North America in the year 1000, which was 500 years before Christopher Columbus but Leif doesn't get any credit for founding America.
